The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and the SIFMA Foundation announced a partnership spanning five years to expand access to financial and investor education for young people and families across the United States. The alliance will build on existing education programs and identify opportunities to provide educators and community partners with additional resources. It will also explore new ways to engage investors who have grown up with digital technology. The initiative addresses a gap between demand for investing education and parents’ confidence in providing it. A SIFMA Foundation survey found that 92% of parents consider it critical for their children to learn about investing, but 78% lack confidence in teaching the basics at home. The expansion comes as more states require personal finance education in schools and online investing platforms and financial influencers increasingly target young investors. The partnership combines FINRA’s investor education expertise, including investment risk and fraud awareness, with the foundation’s established educational programs. These include The Stock Market Game, which allows students to manage simulated investment portfolios and research companies. The program has reached more than 24 million young people since its launch in 1977.
