The European Banking Authority (EBA) has published final technical advice recommending the removal of the fees and commissions and trading book key performance indicators (KPIs) from banks’ Taxonomy disclosure requirements. Following a July 2026 consultation that considered deleting or narrowing these indicators, the advice supports the European Commission’s forthcoming review of the Disclosures Delegated Act under Article 8 of the Taxonomy Regulation. Investment firms’ “other services” KPI would also be simplified, including services related to capital markets. Grandfathering provisions would align with the EU Green Bond Regulation, but only for bonds issued under that regulation. The advice also recommends against incorporating the operational expenditure KPI disclosed by nonfinancial undertakings into financial undertakings’ KPIs. Group disclosures would use the parent undertaking’s KPIs, complemented where relevant and subject to defined conditions by KPIs for material secondary activities, without further aggregation. Disclosure templates would be simplified and harmonized for banks’ asset management activities, asset managers’ activities and investment firms’ activities. Banks’ Green Asset Ratio templates would also be simplified and clarified.
