Moldova's National Commission for Financial Markets (CNPF) reviewed progress in aligning capital market regulation with European Union standards at a meeting with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Discussions also addressed stock exchange infrastructure, the results of existing technical assistance and prospects for extending that support. Two ongoing EBRD projects support the work: one addresses alignment of capital market legislation and regulation with EU standards, while the other strengthens CNPF's capacity to transpose Chapter 9 of the EU acquis on financial services. The broader legislative alignment effort includes a draft law that CNPF approved for submission to the Ministry of Finance in February 2026, covering multiple voting shares, stronger shareholder rights and greater transparency for issuers and institutional investors.
