South Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance launched an interministerial task force to oversee three national priorities: the Korean green transition strategy (K-GX), seven SEED projects targeting future growth industries, and three livelihood projects covering housing, employment and financial services for lower-income households. Its initial review found all 130 K-GX measures scheduled for 2026 and 2027 progressing as planned. The task force will coordinate implementation plans, monitor delivery and resolve differences among ministries. The K-GX review covered 88 measures for 2026 and 42 for 2027, excluding longer-term initiatives within the strategy's 151 measures. Climate financing reached KRW 54.8 trillion by September, equivalent to 96.6% of the annual target of KRW 56.7 trillion. Practical best-practice standards for transition finance are scheduled for November 2026, while further road maps for decarbonizing major emitting industries and developing carbon-neutral technologies remain under preparation. Implementation structures and strategies for the seven SEED projects are due to be finalized by the end of 2026, ahead of investment, demonstration and commercialization activities beginning in 2027. The government's proposed 2027 budget includes approximately KRW 4 trillion for these projects, which span clean energy, advanced technologies and supply chains. Interministerial working groups are also developing specific measures for the three livelihood projects, although the update sets no delivery dates.
