The Central Bank of Venezuela has opened an exhibition marking the 60th anniversary of its numismatic gallery, founded in 1966. It also outlined plans to modernize and expand the exhibition space to create a Central Bank of Venezuela Museum. The exhibition traces the evolution of Venezuela’s coins and banknotes through to the present, alongside medals, decorations and jewelry belonging to Simón Bolívar held by the bank. The planned museum would combine physical exhibits with virtual tools and new technologies to present the bank’s heritage collection, which also includes stamps, historic ironwork and works of art.
