The National Bank of Serbia revoked ALTA banka a.d. Beograd’s operating licence on Oct. 30 following supervisory activities and an imposed temporary measure. It also determined that the conditions for initiating bankruptcy proceedings had been met and transferred the bank’s management to the Deposit Insurance Agency. The bank’s assets remain under supervision to prevent their dissipation and protect creditors. Proceedings have also been initiated against the bank, its shareholders, management bodies and other responsible persons. Depositors will be informed which bank will pay out their insured deposits, up to EUR 50,000, and how to file remaining claims and receive payment. The proceedings do not release the bank’s debtors from their obligations. They will receive instructions on settling their liabilities following the initiation of bankruptcy proceedings.
