Oman’s Financial Services Authority (FSA) has completed a health economics training programme for 35 participants from regulatory bodies, insurers and health insurance claims management companies. Participants included representatives of the FSA and the Ministry of Health. The programme focused on applying economic analysis and data to health insurance pricing, claims management and supervision. Approximately 40% of the content delivered over four weeks was dedicated to practical applications. Training addressed healthcare financing mechanisms and the use of data to assess market performance and detect fraud, waste and abuse. It also covered medical coding systems and technical aspects of Dhamani, the National Health Insurance Platform, alongside the use of advanced analytics in supervisory practices.
