National Bank of Georgia Vice President Nino Jeladze reviewed the bank’s existing digital finance frameworks in opening remarks at the DGFI 2026 international digital finance conference in Tbilisi. She emphasized combining financial innovation with clear regulation and effective supervision. Three digital banks operate under the bank’s licensing framework, while more than 40 virtual asset service providers (VASPs), including international operators, are registered under its mandatory registration and supervision regime. The framework for initial stablecoin offerings sets requirements for market entry, reserve backing, transparency and consumer protection. These safeguards sit alongside VASP rules expanded in September to introduce minimum supervisory capital and risk management requirements, including cybersecurity and business continuity controls. The remarks reviewed these regulatory arrangements rather than announcing new measures.
