Bank of Cape Verde Gov. Óscar Santos inaugurated BAI Cape Verde’s (BAICV) mobile banking unit on Oct. 30, 2026, to bring basic financial services to remote communities. In remarks at the inauguration, he highlighted its role in improving access for households and businesses in inland areas with few bank branches. The unit is equipped with an ATM to expand access to cash and will offer account opening and term deposits. Customers will also be able to apply for loans and cards and use Western Union services.
