The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced that the Future of Finance Institute (FFI) has commenced operations, initially focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) in financial services. Announced in June 2026 to help move financial technologies from experimentation to broader deployment, the institute brings together financial institutions, technology firms and researchers. It will progressively expand into other areas of financial innovation, including tokenisation. FFI’s AI work has three pillars. PathFin.ai will underpin a Knowledge Hub to broaden available solutions, validate their practical usefulness and match them with institutions’ needs, alongside practitioner communities sharing implementation experience. BuildFin.ai will develop guidance, standards and shared tools and infrastructure for AI deployment, with particular attention to the safe use of AI agents. SafeFin.ai will develop practical resources for implementing MAS’ Guidelines on AI Risk Management, including for agentic AI. It will also enhance the MindForge AI Risk Management Toolkit to address use case risk assessments, testing and assurance, and third-party AI.
