Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) launched three Islamic banking product guides covering asset leasing, leases ending in ownership transfer and inventory sales financing at its annual Islamic banking meeting in Makassar. The guides supplement nine earlier publications under the 2023–2027 Roadmap for the Development and Strengthening of Indonesian Islamic Banking. Their release follows OJK's launch of a broader Islamic finance blueprint that prioritizes product innovation and coordination across financial sectors. The Ijarah guide covers the use of assets without transferring ownership, particularly business premises and productive equipment, with rental payments made in installments. The Ijarah Muntahiyah Bittamlik (IMBT) guide addresses leases that end with ownership transfer, covering both consumer needs, such as homes and vehicles, and productive assets. The Wakalah guide for sales of available inventory addresses supply chain financing, allowing suppliers to obtain liquidity by selling existing stock to banks without waiting for deferred payments from final buyers. Developed with the National Sharia Board of the Indonesian Ulema Council and the Islamic banking industry, the guides provide a reference for products that meet Sharia principles and customer needs.
