In opening remarks at AFIS 2026 published by Angola’s Ministry of Finance, Minister of State for Economic Coordination José de Lima Massano called for a more dynamic national financial system to convert savings into financing for businesses, infrastructure and strategic sectors. The emphasis was on directing credit toward activities that support growth and economic diversification. His remarks linked infrastructure investment, improvements to the business environment and stronger competition to Angola’s competitiveness in regional production and distribution chains. Massano reviewed Angola’s economic performance, citing growth of 8.74% in the second quarter of 2026 and an expansion of 9.24% in the economy outside the oil sector. He put the share of GDP generated outside oil at about 85%, with agriculture and livestock accounting for around 23% of GDP. These figures provided the backdrop to his call for financial resources to translate into productive investment and employment.
