The Central Bank of Cuba reported that a Communist Party review of the bank and several commercial banking entities included new instructions to improve service quality and the functioning of the national banking and financial system. The discussions examined implementation of Cuba’s economic and social reforms and also called for action against corruption and tax evasion and protection of the public’s rights. The emphasis on services is consistent with the central bank’s September presentation of 20 gradual banking reforms aimed at restoring institutions’ functionality and improving access. That earlier update identified reducing queues and branch visits, simplifying procedures and expanding digital services as priorities. The current review focused on implementation and oversight rather than setting out detailed new banking measures.
