Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) has granted preliminary approval for two projects to join its regulatory sandbox, covering credit assessment using artificial intelligence and securities market education through gamification. The approvals bring the number of projects granted preliminary approval since the sandbox’s launch to 11, of which two have progressed to live testing. We Lend’s project, developed in cooperation with Tamweely, would use artificial intelligence and alternative data to assess the creditworthiness of small and medium enterprises. The proposed solution would analyse financial and operational data, combining artificial intelligence with human review to improve assessment reliability and reduce the time and cost involved. Roya Online Securities Trading’s project would provide a digital educational platform for people aged 15 to 35. It would use gamification and an interactive simulation of the securities market to introduce investment and trading concepts gradually. The sandbox provides a supervised environment for testing such business models and applications before broader market deployment.
