Thailand’s Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) convened InsurTech Summit 2026 on Nov. 5, bringing regulators, insurers and technology providers together to discuss insurance innovation. In his keynote address, OIC Secretary-General Chuchat Pramoolpol outlined four priorities for strengthening insurance’s role as a national risk buffer: industry stability and cooperation, technology and access to coverage, health risk management, and workforce skills. The emphasis echoes the draft Fifth Insurance Development Plan for 2026–2030, discussed at a public hearing in 2025, which positioned insurance as a mechanism for managing national economic and social risks. The priorities call for closer cooperation among regulators, insurers and technology providers, alongside the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and data in risk assessment, product development, customer service and claims handling to reduce costs and barriers to coverage. Stronger links between insurance, health care and technology would support preventive care and responses to health risks and population aging. Workforce development focuses on practical capabilities in AI, data analysis and technology use. The summit also featured demonstrations from seven companies, including applications for underwriting, property damage assessment and customer service.
