Montenegro Capital Market Authority and the University of Montenegro’s Faculty of Technology have begun a pilot program to teach students how to assess and finance projects that address environmental problems. The program, “Green Idea to Green Money,” began with a workshop on Nov. 5, 2026, introducing financing sources and the relationship between investment, expected benefits and risk. Students used a capital market simulation to explore how projects raise funding, taking on the roles of companies, investors, financial intermediaries and regulators. The exercise addressed transparency, market rules and investor protection. Participants then assessed two green project ideas for financial viability, potential benefits and risks, using the information available to them. The pilot comprises four workshops covering financial fundamentals, links between environmental and financial risks, sustainable finance and the identification of unsupported environmental claims. Mentoring will follow the workshops, with students developing their own green investment ideas and preparing them for a final presentation.
