The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has extended the maximum settlement deadline for natural gas imports by qualifying companies wholly owned by the state from 180 to 365 days. The longer deadline will apply to transactions carried out from Nov. 9, 2026. Eligibility is limited to natural gas market participants owned entirely, directly or indirectly, by the state and assigned special obligations by Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers to ensure the public interest in the gas market. The extension follows government recommendations and is intended to help companies building gas reserves for domestic consumers secure more favorable and competitive import terms. This is expected to support energy security and ease pressure on the foreign exchange market.
