The European Banking Authority (EBA) has outlined additional simplifications and longer implementation periods as it finalises its EU supervisory reporting package following consultation feedback. The first reference date for new requirements will move from the originally proposed September 2027 to December 2027. Selected reporting areas, including liquidity, asset encumbrance, supervisory benchmarking and environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting, will be deferred until December 2028. The final report on the draft implementing technical standards (ITS) is due in December 2026, with institutions receiving at least one year to implement the new requirements. The revised package will simplify templates, strengthen proportionality, reduce reporting frequencies and align requirements more closely with disclosures. Further reductions will cover collateral, stress testing and ESG reporting. Credit risk and International Financial Reporting Standard 9 (IFRS 9) benchmarking reporting will enter the supervisory reporting framework, alongside substantially streamlined IFRS 9 requirements and a stronger focus on consolidated reporting. Operational risk loss reporting will use fewer data fields and clearer instructions. A dedicated stress testing module will have separate submission deadlines and frequencies, with selected data points removed. Beyond the harmonised framework, national supervisors have committed to reducing overlapping requests where equivalent information is already collected, while retaining access to other data needed for supervision. Guidelines on supervisory and resolution data requests are expected by the end of 2026, followed by an EU public repository of such requests in the first quarter of 2027. Supporting technical specifications for the reporting package, including the data point model, taxonomies and validation rules, will be published in early 2027. Further proposals on managing reporting changes will follow in the first half of 2027.
