Peru's Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Pension Fund Administrators (SBS) has created the Executive Coordination for Organisation of Companies (CEO), a new executive unit designed to centralise and speed up the processing of applications for new entities seeking to enter the financial, insurance and private pensions systems. The CEO will function as the supervised systems’ single entry point and will handle requests limited to the organisation stage for new entities. Assessments at the operating stage will remain with the line departments (Adjuntas), which will coordinate with the CEO. The unit will report to the Risk Management Department and will be staffed by a specialised team to provide a comprehensive technical assessment, with the SBS expecting more consistent criteria, clearer accountability and improved responsiveness for hybrid business models such as firms combining credit and electronic money activities. The organisational change was implemented through an amendment to the SBS Regulation of Organization and Functions under Resolution No. 00935-2026.
