The Uganda Insurance Regulatory Authority has opened the licensing process for risk advisors, loss assessors and loss adjusters for the 2026–2027 period, requiring applications via its online licensing platform and submission of all requirements by Monday, 1 September 2025. Licences are due to be renewed by Monday, 1 December 2025 for a two-year period, subject to compliance with the Insurance Act. Applicants must pay a non-refundable annual compliance fee of UGX 400,000 per type of business by 1 September 2025, with penalties for late or incomplete submissions. The Authority highlighted evidence it will expect for licence issuance, including professional indemnity insurance with a sum insured of at least UGX 100 million expiring on or after 31 December 2026, external auditor details and professional indemnity cover of at least UGX 100 million alongside auditor rotation compliance, resolution of outstanding queries on 2024 audited financial statements and returns, settlement of any obligations due to the Authority, evidence of the 2025 deposit annual contribution by Friday, 31 October 2025, proof of 2026 membership of the Insurance Training College of Uganda and the Uganda Association of Engineering Valuers and Loss Assessors, the 2024 company annual return, immigration documentation for non-Ugandan employees, the company tax identification number, Personal Data Protection Office registration, and corporate governance information on board members and the chief executive. For ongoing reporting, original 2025 audited financial statements and duly signed regulatory returns must be submitted by Tuesday, 31 March 2026. The Authority will publish the list of licensed entities for 2026–2027 on Thursday, 1 January 2026, and indicated that any entity not published as licensed by that date must bear its publication costs.
