The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority has published its Quarterly Superannuation Performance statistics for the March 2026 quarter, showing that total superannuation assets fell 1.0 per cent over the quarter to AUD 4.4 trillion at 31 March 2026. Of that total, APRA-regulated funds held AUD 3.1 trillion. On a year-on-year basis, total superannuation assets increased 7.9 per cent, with APRA-regulated assets up 8.7 per cent to AUD 3.14 trillion. Across the year to March 2026, self-managed super fund assets rose 7.0 per cent to AUD 1.06 trillion, exempt public sector superannuation scheme assets increased 2.9 per cent to AUD 178.4 billion, and life office statutory fund assets increased 2.5 per cent to AUD 60.8 billion. For entities with more than six members, total contributions rose 11.3 per cent to AUD 226.1 billion, including an 8.4 per cent increase in employer contributions to AUD 159.8 billion and a 19.1 per cent increase in member contributions to AUD 66.3 billion. Benefit payments increased 12.3 per cent to AUD 143.5 billion, with lump sum payments up 13.6 per cent to AUD 79.7 billion and pension payments up 10.7 per cent to AUD 63.8 billion. Net contribution flows increased 9.6 per cent to AUD 74.5 billion. The next release is scheduled for August 2026 as the June 2026 edition.
