The National Bank of Romania is putting into circulation, on a staggered basis according to cash demand, a new 1 February 2026 banknote issue in RON 1, RON 5, RON 10, RON 20, RON 50, RON 100, RON 200 and RON 500 denominations, bearing the signatures of the governor and new chief cashier Mugur Tolici, while keeping the same designs, characteristics and security features as existing notes and circulating in parallel with them.

National Bank of Romania issues 1 February 2026 banknotes with new chief cashier signature
The National Bank of Romania is releasing a new 1 February 2026 series of RON 1 to RON 500 banknotes with the signatures of the governor and new chief cashier Mugur Tolici, while all other design and security features remain unchanged and the notes will be introduced gradually alongside existing banknotes.
