Mexico's National Banking and Securities Commission published the Capitalisation Index for brokerage houses as of end-December 2024. The sector’s ICAP stood at 30.18%, and all operating brokerage houses were classified in Category I under the early warning framework, meaning no immediate supervisory action is required in relation to solvency. Category I reflects compliance with the 8% minimum capitalisation requirement plus a 2.5% capital conservation buffer constituted with core capital, which implies an ICAP above 10.5%. Under the framework, Category I indicates institutions are sufficiently capitalised to face scenarios of unexpected losses.
