Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance published the speaking points of Deputy Minister George Kotsiras for the Insurance Forum Athens Edition, focusing on state and insurance-market cooperation to strengthen protection for citizens and businesses and on tax measures affecting insurance. Kotsiras called for a modern and fair insurance framework oriented toward prevention, integrated risk management and long-term stability. He highlighted tax interventions with effects across housing, medical coverage, business activity and road safety, including an ENFIA discount for homes insured against natural disasters and extensive cross-checks, conducted for the first time with the Independent Authority for Public Revenue and other competent ministries, to detect uninsured vehicles and unpaid road taxes. The exercise involved checking, cleaning and harmonising data across relevant registers and sending notices for non-compliance, which he linked to increased compliance and improved road safety.
