The Bank of Spain has opened The Pliable Plane, an exhibition exploring textiles as a meeting point between art, architecture and industry. Inaugurated by Governor José Luis Escrivá, the exhibition brings together nearly 50 works from the 17th to the 21st centuries, including tapestries, carpets, paintings, photographs, videos, documents and coins from the bank’s collection and other institutions. The exhibition examines textiles’ roles in shaping interiors, preserving knowledge and memory, representing institutions and exploring labor and economic value. It is accompanied by a catalogue documenting almost 100 historic and contemporary textiles held by the Bank of Spain over more than two centuries, and runs in Madrid through March 28, 2027.
