The Oman Financial Services Authority (FSA) has launched live testing of the Rushd robo-advisory platform within its regulatory sandbox. The trial will assess the platform’s investment services, technical and operational readiness, and risk controls before any wider rollout. Offering services to the public remains subject to meeting regulatory, technical and operational requirements and obtaining the necessary approvals and final licence. Rushd uses algorithms to develop customised investment portfolios based on clients’ investment objectives, asset values and risk tolerance. Its services extend beyond investment advice to portfolio management across local and international investments, including asset allocation, continuous monitoring and rebalancing. All portfolios and investment solutions are managed in accordance with Islamic Sharia principles. Testing will proceed in stages, each subject to limits on client numbers and transaction volumes, alongside specific requirements and key performance indicators. The FSA will evaluate investment suitability, user experience and the platform’s ability to meet regulatory and operational requirements. Findings from live operations will inform improvements before the platform advances to subsequent stages.
