The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) issued an alert urging the public to stay vigilant against phishing SMS messages claiming to be from the HKMA. The messages allege the recipient has activated an insurance service and instruct them to contact customer service to cancel it. The HKMA clarified it will not contact individual members of the public about personal financial matters. The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force, and suspected victims are advised to contact the Police or the Commercial Crime Bureau for follow-up and investigation.
