The Central Bank of Paraguay said it has obtained EDGE Assess, an international certification for gender equity in the workplace. It described the result as making it the first public entity to achieve the certification and the only organization currently certified in Paraguay. The certification followed an assessment of workforce data, internal policies and employee experience under the EDGE framework. The bank said women represented 27% of its staff in 2010 and now account for 44%, after merit and aptitude-based recruitment processes introduced in 2008. It also reported that 95% of female employees hold at least a university degree, 48% have postgraduate studies, and two women currently sit on the bank's board. Using the EDGE Empower platform, the bank said the review found both genders exceeded substantive representation levels on the board and across most positions of responsibility, while also evidencing internal policy alignment and positive inclusion and satisfaction levels among employees.
