The World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) published a position paper, "Amplifying Climate Action and the Power of Nature", setting out how exchanges and listed issuers can help address nature degradation as nature-related risks become financially material. The paper frames nature as a growing strand of environmental finance and points to public markets as a channel for innovation, capital mobilisation and long-term value creation. Key opportunities highlighted for exchanges and issuers include developing nature-related products such as biodiversity bonds, green designations, nature-linked indices and support for nature credits, strengthening issuer capability through guidance, training and case studies, and improving transparency via listing rules or voluntary frameworks that encourage nature-related disclosures. The WFE also calls on policymakers and regulators to publish jurisdiction-specific nature priorities and investment needs, support internationally aligned and proportionate reporting frameworks (including for SMEs and issuers in developing markets), tailor requirements to differing market capacities, partner with exchanges on product design, and maintain momentum by showcasing progress and successful examples.
