The Central Bank of Peru published February 2026 data showing total credit to the private sector, including lending by banks, finance companies, municipal and rural savings banks and cooperatives, grew 7.1% year on year to PEN 439,557 million and rose 0.3% from the prior month. The annual growth rate was slightly below January’s 7.2% and above the 6.5% growth recorded in 2025. Household credit increased 6.8% year on year (0.5% month on month), while credit to firms grew 7.3% (0.2% month on month) to PEN 255,493 million. By currency, credit denominated in soles expanded 5.5% year on year (0.3% month on month), while credit in foreign currency grew 13.0% year on year and 0.5% from the prior month.
