The Bank of the Lao PDR held a one-day seminar in Vientiane on screening foreign investment in the financial sector, supported by the SEAG2G cooperation programme. The event brought together more than 40 participants from the central bank and other Lao authorities to exchange views on improving the government's process for assessing and approving investment projects, with particular attention to foreign investment in Lao PDR. Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and the Office of the Investment Promotion and Management Committee, alongside experts from the Australian Treasury. Discussions covered experience sharing, cooperation on policy and implementation, and regulatory approaches in priority and emerging areas of the financial sector, while also strengthening cooperation networks between Lao and Australian government agencies on foreign investment screening.
