Independent assurance from an external auditor confirmed that Sportsbet implemented and operationalized all required remediation. The undertaking, accepted in May 2024 following a sector review, required Sportsbet to strengthen five areas of its policies and processes, including risk assessment, customer monitoring and suspicious matter reporting. AUSTRAC will continue monitoring the gambling sector closely and expects higher-risk businesses to maintain robust, risk-based controls, particularly against identity and payment fraud in online gambling.
