The Central Bank of Russia published updated cash turnover data, showing that cash deposited to and withdrawn from banks’ cash offices and ATMs totalled RUB 130.1 trillion in 2024, a 5.1% increase year on year. Cash deposited amounted to RUB 63.6 trillion and cash withdrawn to RUB 66.5 trillion. The largest volume of cash transactions was recorded in individuals’ bank accounts, where deposits rose 2.3% to RUB 9.8 trillion and withdrawals increased 8.2% to RUB 12.7 trillion; inflows to individuals’ deposit accounts rose 6.2% to RUB 5.1 trillion, while outflows increased 2.2% to RUB 8.2 trillion. Trade generated RUB 6.7 trillion in cash turnover, and the leading regions by cash turnover were Moscow (RUB 28.2 trillion), the Moscow Region (RUB 9.1 trillion), St Petersburg (RUB 8.1 trillion) and the Krasnodar Territory (RUB 6.2 trillion).
