The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced that, by order of the Head of State, Nurzhan Tursynkhanov has been appointed as its Deputy Chairman. Tursynkhanov most recently headed the Department of Monetary Operations of the National Bank of Kazakhstan from December 2019 to January 2026, overseeing management of the National Bank’s gold and foreign exchange assets, the National Fund’s assets, pension assets of the Unified Accumulative Pension Fund, and client assets, as well as financial market operations supporting monetary policy, provision of cash foreign currency, and the state’s priority right to purchase refined gold. His career includes roles at HSBC Bank Kazakhstan, the National Bank’s monetary operations area, and senior positions at the National Investment Corporation of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, where he also served on the board of directors.
