The Central Bank of Russia has launched its autumn Coin Week, a countrywide campaign running from 22 September to 4 October that allows individuals to exchange coins for banknotes at participating banks or stores, or deposit the coins into their bank accounts. Participation spans around 15,000 stores and 4,000 bank offices across 3,000 localities. The Central Bank noted that the Coin Week held in April returned 51 million coins to circulation, worth RUB 242 million.
