The Central Bank of Libya said Gov. Naji Issa met Interior Minister Emad Al-Trabelsi to review their existing cooperation plan and deepen coordination in areas tied to the bank’s policy agenda. In the context of that meeting, the discussions focused on regulating the foreign exchange market, combating certain negative practices and expanding the use of electronic payment systems and channels. The meeting also covered the development of electronic payment mechanisms for services and fees provided by the Ministry of Interior and its affiliated entities. Those plans would use the national electronic payments infrastructure overseen by the central bank to support the ministry’s digital services, with the stated aims of making payments easier for citizens, improving service efficiency, speeding up transaction processing and reducing reliance on cash.
