Peru's Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Pension Funds (SBS) has issued an update to its Regulation on Infringements and Sanctions, incorporating, amending and repealing infringements across the financial, insurance and pension systems, including market conduct and risk-related matters. The resolution introduces new infringements classified as “very serious”, particularly in cybersecurity, information security and market conduct, linked to recent changes in the underlying rules in those areas. A key change treats inadequate protection of information against security incidents as a very serious infringement, including situations involving loss, theft or alteration of confidential data and fraud affecting customers. The update also revises rules connected to insurance intermediation, procedures for annulment of affiliation to the private pension system (SPP), and early repayment of loans, with SBS framing the package as supporting more effective enforcement and user protection.
