Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and TERAJU Bumiputera Corporation (TERAJU) have signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate better access to capital market financing for Bumiputera micro, small and medium enterprises and mid-tier companies. The partnership is positioned to support the SC’s 2024–2028 roadmap to raise MSME and MTC market-based fundraising to RM40 billion by 2028, alongside capacity-building measures to improve companies’ readiness to raise capital. The collaboration will focus on strengthening fundraising readiness and leadership capacity through targeted initiatives, including establishing an Elevate–TERAJU cohort under the SC’s Elevate programme led by Capital Markets Malaysia, an SC affiliate. Twenty Bumiputera companies from the manufacturing, healthcare, engineering and technology sectors have been selected for the inaugural cohort; Elevate has previously graduated 78 companies across five cohorts. The MoU also covers exploring financing avenues through potential co-investment with private investors and supporting sustainability disclosures through adoption of the SC’s Simplified ESG Disclosure Guide and related capacity-building programmes.
