The Thailand Securities and Exchange Commission has issued draft regulations for consultation that would make Government Housing Bank savings certificates eligible investments for retail mutual funds, accredited investor funds and provident funds. The certificates would be classified as deposits or deposit-equivalent instruments, aligning their treatment with similar savings certificates issued by other Specialized Financial Institutions. Fund investments in the certificates would remain subject to existing investment, diversification, disclosure and risk management requirements. These include single-entity and group limits intended to control concentration risk. The Capital Market Supervisory Board approved the proposal in principle in June 2026, and all respondents supported it during an earlier public hearing. Comments on the draft regulations are due by Sept. 2, 2026.
