The Financial Conduct Authority has announced a Supercharged Sandbox that will allow financial services firms to experiment with artificial intelligence in a controlled environment, combining regulatory support with access to NVIDIA’s accelerated computing and AI software. The sandbox is open to any financial services firm and is aimed at firms that are still in the discovery and experimentation phase. Built on the existing Digital Sandbox infrastructure provided by NayaOne, the programme is intended to provide participants with better data, technical expertise and enhanced compute capacity, including the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software suite. The FCA positioned the initiative alongside its existing AI Live Testing service for firms that are further advanced and ready to use AI, noting that it has also set out proposals for AI Live Testing and described how existing regulatory frameworks apply to firms’ use of AI. Firms can apply now via the FCA’s website, and successful applicants will be able to experiment from October.
