The Central Reserve Bank of Peru reported that outstanding mortgage credit for home purchases grew 7.1% year on year in December 2025, slightly above November’s 7.0% and the highest rate since February 2023. The increase was mainly driven by growth in mortgages denominated in local currency. In monthly terms, mortgage credit rose 0.3% in December, supported by a 0.3% increase in loans in soles. Total outstanding mortgage credit reached PEN 74,630 million (from PEN 74,418 million in November and PEN 69,652 million in December 2024), while mortgage credit in soles reached PEN 70,471 million (from PEN 70,228 million in November and PEN 65,203 million in December 2024), up 8.1% year on year. Dollarization remained low, with 5.6% of mortgage loans granted in US dollars in December 2025.
