The Central Reserve Bank of Peru published figures showing remittances sent by Peruvians working abroad reached USD 4,945 million in 2024, an 11.2% increase from 2023 (USD 4,446 million). The inflow was equivalent to 1.7% of gross domestic product (GDP), broadly unchanged from the previous year. In quarterly terms, remittances totalled USD 1,280 million in the fourth quarter of 2024, 6% higher than a year earlier. The bank linked the increase to the recovery in employment in the United States, the main source country for remittances.
