Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance, in a joint release with the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family, published updated take-up data for the My Home I and My Home II housing loan schemes and said My Home II is meeting its goal of supporting first-home purchases. As of June 10, My Home II had approved 15,193 loans worth EUR 1.83 billion under a EUR 2 billion envelope and a target of up to 20,000 beneficiaries. Loan contracts had been signed by 12,266 beneficiaries for nearly EUR 1.339 billion, and about EUR 1.218 billion had already been disbursed to more than 11,000 beneficiaries. Approved My Home II loans that were not contracted by June 2 can still be signed until Aug. 31 using national resources managed by Hellenic Development Bank, and the ministries said no beneficiary with an approved loan and an identified property will be left out. The release described the beneficiary base as lower and middle income households, with 57% reporting annual income of EUR 12,000 to EUR 24,000 and 29% reporting EUR 24,000 to EUR 36,000. Average income is EUR 21,000, average beneficiary age 38, and the average purchased home has a value of EUR 152,000, a size of 88 square meters and a 1982 construction year. Across My Home I and My Home II, 24,095 loans have been approved and 20,080 contracted. The ministries also rejected comparisons between the 20,000-beneficiary target and 38,000 bank pre-approvals, saying pre-approvals are only an initial credit assessment, may count the same applicant more than once across banks, and do not amount to final program applications or evidence that an eligible property has been found. Separately, the platform for the new Home Renovation program is due to open on June 15 to bring vacant properties into the housing market through renovation subsidies of 80% to 95% and energy-efficiency support of up to 20%.

Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance reports 15,193 My Home II loan approvals and extends contracting to Aug. 31
Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance said My Home II had approved 15,193 first-home loans worth EUR 1.83 billion by June 10, with 12,266 contracts signed and about EUR 1.218 billion disbursed to more than 11,000 beneficiaries. Approved loans that were not contracted by June 2 can still be signed by Aug. 31 using national resources managed by Hellenic Development Bank. The ministry also said comparisons with 38,000 pre-approvals overstate exclusion because pre-approvals are not final applications and may include duplicate bank submissions.
