The Central Bank of Oman, in collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, opened an exhibition at the Land of Frankincense Museum in Dhofar Governorate documenting the historical development of money and the national currency. The exhibition runs from July 30 to Sept. 3, 2026. The collection presents rare and historical banknotes and coins, alongside informational and visual displays tracing the monetary system through successive national currency issues to modern versions of the Omani rial. It also highlights the artistic and security features of the currency.
