The Central Bank of Liberia has launched its Financial Education program in Margibi County, using 13 newly trained community mobilizers to lead grassroots financial literacy efforts as part of the country’s broader financial inclusion strategy. The rollout focuses on practical money management, with an emphasis on saving, budgeting and informed financial decision-making, and is designed to reach residents through locally based trainers rather than external facilitators. The mobilizers include market leaders, youth representatives, women’s advocates, motorcyclists and members of the disability community. The bank said this county-led model is intended to make the program more accessible by relying on people who know local languages, culture and community needs. The national program is being implemented with the Female Journalist Association of Liberia and the Office of the Arts and Culture Ambassador, uses community launches and interactive outreach, and covers nine thematic areas. Margibi is the fifth county-level rollout after Grand Gedeh, Lofa, Nimba and Bong. Following the launch, local leaders and community groups said they would take the financial education campaign into marketplaces, villages, churches and schools to broaden uptake across the county.
