The Central Bank of Liberia announced that Liberia will chair the AFRITAC West 2 and African Training Institute steering committees from July 2026 through June 2027. Participating countries unanimously endorsed Liberia to succeed Sierra Leone and Mali, respectively, in the two roles. Liberia will focus on improving the relevance of International Monetary Fund-supported capacity development, strengthening regional cooperation and peer learning, and increasing the effectiveness and accountability of technical assistance and training. It will also host both steering committee meetings in 2027.
