Serbia's Ministry of Finance published a report on Finance Minister Siniša Mali's remarks at the Heroes of Microbusiness 2026 awards, where he reiterated that the government would keep supporting small entrepreneurs. He said Serbia would continue increasing wages and pensions to sustain consumer demand for domestic businesses, keep reforming the business environment, and reduce payroll burdens. The competition, organized by Blic and 3 Banka for businesses with up to five employees, awarded RSD 500,000 to Stefan Vučković's Crystal Paper from Lapovo, RSD 300,000 to Ivana Kostić's Nugatelina confectionery from Pirot, and RSD 200,000 to Marko Krstić's Serket Leder tailoring business from Aleksinac. Mali cited an average April wage of EUR 1,037, up 9.5 percent in real terms from a year earlier, and first-quarter GDP growth of 3.2 percent, and he encouraged entrepreneurs to use innovation and artificial intelligence to improve competitiveness.
