The Central Bank of the Solomon Islands announced that its Board approved a licence for Credit & Data Bureau Solomon Islands Limited (CDBSIL) on 19 March 2026 to operate as a Credit Reporting Service Provider under the Solomon Islands Credit Reporting Regulations 2025. Under the Regulations, CDBSIL is authorised to collect and maintain credit information from banks, credit institutions, retailers, utility providers and other approved data sources, with use limited to lawful purposes including credit assessment, identity verification, fraud prevention, AML/KYC compliance, tenancy assessments and high-risk employment screening. The framework sets out consumer rights to a free annual copy of their credit information, correction of inaccurate or outdated data, complaint escalation to the Central Bank of the Solomon Islands, and fraud alerts in cases of suspected identity theft, while requiring CDBSIL to maintain robust data privacy and security systems and comply with Central Bank oversight and reporting obligations.
