The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) has ordered the cessation of unauthorised insurance intermediation conducted through five websites and directed providers operating in Italy to block access to them. The sites named in the order are www.rca.99bros.net (and rca.99bros.net), www.agenziafranzini.it (and agenziafranzini.it), www.servicecolonna.it (and servicecolonna.it), polizze.b-brokersrl.it and polizze.consulenzeciesse.it. Blocking activity is underway and may take a few days for technical reasons. The cease-and-desist orders are published in IVASS’s “Defend ourselves from scams” section, bringing the total number of sites targeted since IVASS began exercising its blocking power in November 2023 to 317. IVASS also reiterated consumer guidance to treat insurance offers received online, by phone or via instant messaging with caution, and to verify before paying premiums that quotes and contracts relate to duly authorised insurers and intermediaries by checking IVASS registers and lists, including the Register of Insurance Intermediaries (RUI).
