The Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia reported that its head, Davit Onoprishvili, participated in the International Association of Insurance Supervisors’ (IAIS) Implementation and Evaluation Committee meeting in Basel on 6–7 May 2025, including a joint session with the IAIS Policy Development Committee. Discussions focused on the global implementation of international supervisory standards and the monitoring of a holistic oversight framework. The committees also covered measures to increase supervisory efficiency, updates from forums working on solvency-based supervision, financial inclusion and insurance protection, and a capacity-building initiative aimed at strengthening member jurisdictions. During the visit, Onoprishvili held bilateral meetings with the Slovenian Insurance Supervision Agency’s Managing Director Gorazd Shibei, the Croatian Financial Service Supervision Agency’s President Ante Zigman, and Deputy Director General Javier Castillo Garcia, focused on deepening cooperation and identifying future steps to support Georgia’s implementation of international insurance supervisory and regulatory standards.
